Broken login link, redirects and request update button

Hi FV Team

Apologies if I’m in the wrong place. (Not sure where some of these should go)

4 things:

1. “Login” link on home is broken (it redirects to a random product page at times, then other times, it redirects to the pricing page, but there is no login button there). Basically, it’s a bit hard to log in right now.

Sometimes, I manage to login but I end up being logged out again next time I revisit the website (sometimes even within the same day, using the same computer and the same browser)

2. “Request update” can’t be accessed at times, I don’t know if it’s because I keep getting logged out or because the button isn’t working (because sometimes, I am actually logged in).

3. GeoDirectory addon plugin – I think the plugin file is “broken”

Name: GeoDirectory plugin Custom Post Type"
URL: GeoMapper Custom Content Types Addon - Festinger Vault

Explanation for why I think it’s broken: when installing the addon, the “Post Types” options under “GeoDirectory > Settings” doesn’t appear. Tested this on multiple versions of GeoDirectory and it just doesn’t appear.

I think the current file is not correct, or there is a mismatch between the different versions of GeoDirectory addons on FV.

4.On that note, I think most of the GeoDirectory addons (or all) need updates. (I’ve been trying to put in “request update” but, see point 2.

Regards,
Sandra

The plugin GeoMapper Custom Content Types Addon - Festinger Vaul has been updated .

I am having the same issue. Can’t login on the main site. I can login to the dashboard but unable to download anything. It just redirects to me an LMS plugin when I try to click “login”.

Thanks for the report @accounts2. Your issue is resolved.

Thanks for this Steve!

However, there still seems to be an issue? I think maybe there is something wrong with the plugin? Maybe due to the FV system changing something to the plugin, or its root/path?

I’m not sure what exactly since I don’t know how FV works, but tested this on a fresh install of WP + GeoDirectory (multiple versions, including the latest 3) + GeoDirectory Addon “Custom Post Types” and no “Post Types” are appearing?

(Even after clearing cache and all that. It seems like GeoDirectory base plugin does not find or recognize the custom post types plugin)

Follow up in case the FV team needs to check this.

I just tested this with an old GeoDirectory Custom Post Types, 2.3.4. This was also from FV, but before you guys had to go offline due to.. you know.

When uploading this plugin, the “Post Types” does appear. However, this old plugin didn’t do the whole “forking thing” yet, so I’m thinking, maybe it has something to do with either the naming, or anything else that’s changed inside the “forked” plugin?

Maybe the main GeoDirectory plugin is trying to pull it in but can’t find it, thus it doesn’t show up in the frontend?

EDIT: after troubleshooting, I’m 99% certain that the issue is the “forked” changes, making GeoDirectory unable to find its addons.

How do I know: I downloaded the FV plugin “Ocassions”, (Happenings for GeoPlaces Directory forked from Events for GeoDirectory - Festinger Vault) and it can’t be found anywhere inside the website. However, when you download the same version, but from the official WP org page (Events Calendar for GeoDirectory – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org), it does show up.

Most of the other GeoDirectory addons are having the exact same issue, a few are working fine, but most are “invisible” in the interface.

List of forked FV GeoDirectory addons that are “broken”:

  • Custom Post Types
  • Advanced Search Filters (and possibly Ajax one too)
  • Claim Listings
  • Compare Listings (?)
  • Maps Styles
  • Events (free one, this is the one making me certain it’s related to the naming changes inside the plugin, since if I download the free one from wordpress.org, it does show) (url: Happenings for GeoPlaces Directory forked from Events for GeoDirectory - Festinger Vault)
  • Unsure: Save Search Notifications, GeoDirectory Marketplace, GeoDirectory Booking Engine, GeoDirectory Embed Badge, …
  • The others might be OK, but not 100% sure

Final reply, promise!

The issue is with the folder names. The pluginname.php file is calling the folder, but if you rename the folders, it can’t call it. Changing back the folder names to stuff like…

  • geodir_claim_listing (instead of the forked name folder)

…fixes the issue. I manually fixed this for all folders but, maybe the FV team can fix this since otherwise, every update, this folder structure will be messed up again and no one would be able to use the GeoDirectory plugins without manually renaming the folders.
